📶 Salford Quays just got a lot more interesting

If you are looking for something to do with the family this weekend, you don't want to miss Move A Mile.

Taking over Pendleton and turning a one mile stretch of the city into a moving street festival, Move a Mile is a celebration of creativity, community and wellbeing from The Coping and GRIT Studios.

A new chapter for Salford is officially here.

New set of homes have just been completed on Salford Crescent - the very first part of what will eventually grow into a 3,000-home neighbourhood right here in the city.

Designed to keep energy bills low and carbon footprints even lower, Willohaus (the building) contains 100 apartments with 30 available for social rent and the remaining 70 at affordable rent (set at 20 percent below the going market rate).

Willohaus is part of the wider Adelphi Village project, which feeds into the £2.5bn Crescent masterplan, one of the most ambitious regeneration projects this city has ever seen. It is a long-term vision for transforming the area around the university into a thriving, sustainable neighbourhood, and seeing the first homes completed is an encouraging sign that the project is moving in the right direction.

Good news for anyone who has been watching Quayside Shopping Centre slowly wind down over the past few years. 

Hollywood Bowl is moving in and it feels exactly like the kind of shake-up the place needs. The bowling alley and bar is part of a £16m investment into the centre, and if everything goes to plan with the licensing committee, it could be open very soon.

The bowling alley and bar will operate from 9am to 11.30pm Sunday to Thursday, and 9am to 1.30am on Fridays and Saturdays, which tells you everything you need to know about the kind of venue they are trying to create.

This could quickly become one of the best nights out on the Quays. It has been a long time coming for Quayside, and this feels like the start of something genuinely exciting.
